No Matter How Far I Go, My Shadow Follows

Black cut Persian calligraphy with the English words 'No Matter How Far I Go My Shadow Follows', suspended in front of a wall of projected text

Persian calligraphy cut in black and hung on clear wires, interleaved with the English line 'No Matter How Far I Go, My Shadow Follows'. Around it, a projection of her own text drifts across the wall — opening with the questions 'Where am I? Where do I belong?'

The projection in motion

The projected text is legible in the photographs: it begins 'Where am I? Where do I belong?' and moves through her father's unfinished dream of studying in America, the fragments of a Persian inheritance, and Homi Bhabha's 'Third Space'. The calligraphy casts its own shadow into the words.
